Oh holidays, how you hate me

I remember saying how I'd share some recipes with you, that didn't happen because a) I need to tweak a couple of them some more and b) I was so stressed about Christmas that well I was distracted.  Those recipes will be posted I promise.

For now though I'd like to talk about the abundance of food we've consumed over the weekend.  This year it seems to be the worst food wise as there was no salad or veggie sides other than a minimal veggie tray.  Yeah NONE.  I was like OMG what do I do at each house.   One of them I was too nauseous to eat much (thanks to my lovely nerves) and the few crunchy veggies sounded like a sure way to to initiate my gag reflex.  It was a baaaad weekend.  But we made up for it by having Subway as takeout yesterday.  I know it doesn't help but hey I really wanted Chinese so I did do a good deed.

There's only one small holiday left and that's New Years.  My Mama always has lots of goodies for this day and they are always insanely good, but again few veggies.  I think I'll make sure to bring a veggie tray this time, so at least I know I'm covered.

I was supposed to weigh yesterday and I didn't, I'm afraid.

You should be proud!

On Friday when I sat down to plan this week's menu I started with breakfast and moved my way down to dinner!  That's like the first time I've actually planned all three meals!  That's not 'oh well we've got pop tarts and some cereal we're good' either; I found a couple really nifty recipes that I'm tweaking a bit, and I'll be sharing here, both makes enough to freeze so we can warm them up any day!  Same goes for lunches, no frozen lunches this week, oh no,  I've got three options for us all week long!

Can I get a whoop whoop?  Is that too 90's?  Oh well.

Here are some of the recipes for this week:

Breakfast stacks (with hashbrowns, eggs, mushrooms, spinach and bacon)
Pancake muffins (some with bacon, some with blueberries)
Italian Beef and Lentil slow cooker stew
Chipotle vinegrette

Are you excited??? I am!

I'm begging!

Don't make me get on my knees and act a fool, cause I will, don't try me.  I need help with this blog ASAP.  It doesn't matter how little or how much you have to lose or if you've even wrote a blog post before.  I would love a group of helpers, not just for myself but for all of us, for encouragement and the extra push to get up and get moving and losing.

Email me or comment here if you are interested.

Almost a month down...

and the results aren't great.  I take total blame.

With Thanksgiving and us getting sick and eating out more than cooking...all my fault.  Us keeping quick breakfasts and lunch options in the house for days I don't want to cook, and taking total advantage of them OFTEN, all my fault.

As of now, I am right where I started, I lost some weight but then with all the bad choices I've made, even when I tried to be good, I gained it back.

Too much take out and too much relying on bad for you quick meals.

Too much of me going into old habits, even if I do think I'm doing better.

So what's the plan?  Keep trying, it's all I can do.  And I refuse to let Christmas kick my butt too.

Recovering

The last of the holiday food was finished off last night.  On one hand I'm all cheering with excitement because I've been eating the same thing almost twice a day since Friday, and I'm ready to NOT be eating such bad for you foods.  On the other hand, the food was fantabulous and now it's time to stop being so reckless and buckle down to a better diet again.

Today is my weigh in day on Weight Watchers.  I had to guess since my scale is such a jerk, but I picked the lowest number it showed which just happened to be the one that came up more than 3 times.  That number is, 175, meaning I've gained 2 pounds thanks to Thanksgiving.  Not thrilled one little bit.  But I know it will come off this week since our diet is going to drastically change.  My only hope is that I can lose some extra fluff

First week down, how'd I do??

Since my scales are confused, I can't say for certain what my weight is.  One day it says I'm where I was weeks ago before Herbalife, later that day I've lost 4 pounds, but the next day I'm down 7.  Either my body is that out of whack or the scales hate me.

For now, weigh in's are not happening.  I guess this means I need some measuring tape to keep track of inches instead...or just use my clothes as proof.

The new Weight Watchers system is different than the one I used way back in 07 or thereabouts.  The points on foods are higher since they use different nutrition to dictate it's point value.  My daily points are the same number though, which some days are a good thing other days, not so much.  But like last time it's not too strict to follow that I start craving bad food.  Right now I'm just happy to eat my meals again.

This week wasn't hard at all, minus measuring and keeping track of points.  That has always been my downfall. I think I had 4 days total where I tracked every meal, most days I'm good if I get breakfast/lunch counted.  The other hard part was seeing what our takeout was costing us.  One of our favorite things is 20 points, and I thought for sure it wouldn't be.  A grilled chicken sandwich worth 20 points is redonkulous!  And the salad from the same place was 14 points!  Salads are not supposed to be that high people.  It made takeout a whole new ballgame of planning and researching to find the best point values for things that sounded tasty that night.  What normally took just a few minutes of consideration turned into 30 minutes.  By then takeout lost it's appeal.

As far as exercise.....well I'm still trying to remember to fit this into my day.  It's hard to remember since exercise is not and never has been a part of my daily routine.  For now, I'm rocking out while doing the dishes and dancing around the kitchen.  That I can remember to do, LOL.

So there ya go, my first week back on Weight Watchers...although now it's going on week two cause I totally forgot to blog.  I do have a couple recipes to share, and hopefully will get those out in the next few days.

Welcome back Weight Watchers

Yup I went back.  It's the only thing that has worked wonders for me diet wise, so why not?  It's not cheap but hey, I lost 35lbs in about 6 months last time that's worth it.  I will say that the Herbalife did make me feel good once the week/2 week detox period wore off.  I had energy, I felt great, I wasn't a zombie and I got sleep!  However it put us WAY over budget last month.  I'll continue to use the products until it's all gone since I've already paid for it.

So far I've been good at tracking, but this is only the second day, things may change by tomorrow.
