In my quest to make meal times as easy as can be for my kids (while feeding them healthy options) I thought I'd share with you my journey. I never thought I'd fit into the category of parents with picky children as both of my kids have, until recently, ate anything I put on their plate without a complaint. It may seem insignificant to some, but to those of us with picky eaters, this may be helpful. Or so I hope ;).
I have two binders, purple is for the recipes I've made and the black one is for the ones I want to try. (This is about as far as I've gone to organize my collection of recipes, other than putting them in a big box hehe). There is no categories inside either binder. There is no organizing period, it's a free for all, random mess. It's something that has bugged me for years but I never got around to fixing it. But with this new change, it has to happen.
One of my projects today is to empty the purple binder, make categories, and a list for the recipes that are in magazines or cookbooks. I'm also going to start rating and commenting on each recipe. Something I did off and on, but is so helpful I'm doing it with every recipe I make. I'm also going to do a 'screening' of recipes and toss any that I can't/won't make because of time/lack of ingredient/difficulty. Something else I've been meaning to do but haven't because it is time consuming.

Oh you so sound like me. I have a box of recipes just waiting to be tried and/or put in a binder. I've thought about making small binders for each category and then sub category them by what they are made out of (beef, chicken, pork...) I going to start organizing my menus once summer grilling over and the organized recipes will make it so much easier to plan our meals. I no longer have children at home, but I do have a hubby that thinks meat needs to be at every meal. I look forward to further steps here!!
